"Real" Freedom: A Story of Privilege

Sep 28
1 min read

I had half of the post for this week written this morning when things started hopping around here.  Nothing serious, and all of my grown children needed some Mom love as I was in and amongst my Monday.  I hopped out of a workshop to answer a call from one of them, got things sorted and that was that.  My business partner, Shana, was also on the call and messaged me to see if I was okay.

My answer;

 “Yes, I just needed to take care of the child who is now A- okay.  And that is REAL freedom!”

So, I switched gears on today’s post because I want to talk about that.Freedom and Integrity are my core values.  I have several others, parenting being one of them, and everything else stems from the two core values.

I recognize that it is a privilege to be able to pick up the phone at 11am on a busy Monday.  And it is no accident.

That is by design.

I have done the work to cultivate the kind of freedom in my life that allows for the picking up of the phone.   That is cycle breaking.  That’s a small thing (picking up the phone if one of my kids calls no matter what) that’s a big thing.It doesn’t make me a martyr.  It’s simply doing what I choose and holding my boundaries around my priorities. It’s not magic.  It’s doing the work.So what’s the small thing that’s a big thing that would make you feel free?  Drop a comment and share with us.

XOXO,

Cindy
